JUNE 2022

MEMBERSHIP CELEBRATION AND THE BIG REVEAL

                Advisory Board                                                  New Members

On Wednesday, June 8, we held our Membership Celebration and Big Reveal event at Barge Design Solutions in Nashville. We were excited to announce that $239,000 was the amount of 2022 grant funds based on the total number of members as of June 8, but that amount has since increased to $244,000! Can you help us get to $250,000?

The Big Reveal event marks the beginning of the 2022 grants cycle during which members work together to select the 2022 grant finalists from among all applicants.  Dozens of nonprofits participate in a competitive grants review process that includes written proposals, site visits, and presentations.

This year, two organizations will receive $100,000 each and the additional funds raised over $200,000 will be awarded to organizations categorized as “new and emerging.” Grants are awarded to area nonprofits based on their proposals for Ending the Cycle of social issues such as homelessness, addiction or abuse. Each Impact100 Nashville member has one vote to select grant recipients at the Annual Voting Event which will take place in November.

In 2021, Impact100 Nashville awarded two $102,000 grants:  one each to Mending Hearts, Inc. and Tennessee Kids Belong. Impact100 Nashville has grown steadily over the past seven years.  In total, $571,000 in grant money has been awarded through 2021.

At The Big Reveal event, members and guests heard from grant recipient Retrieving Independence, which received $21,500 in 2016 to purchase a bus to transport service dogs to and from the Turney Center Correctional Facility where their service dogs are trained. The dogs are transported from the Turney Center to Brentwood where volunteers meet and pick up the dogs for weekend socializations. The star of the evening was Willow, a Retrieving Independence puppy, who will be trained and placed with someone who is living with a physical, mental or emotional disability.

The following 244 women make up our 2022 membership. Together we will be awarding $244,000 in grant dollars to Nashville area nonprofits. It is through our collaborative contributions and work that we are making a transformative IMPACT in Nashville!

Welcome to our Inaugural Bridge to Impact Members
An impressive assortment of women make up our membership:
Women who are C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, elected officials, thriving empty nesters, etc. Women who have been there and done that. Whether successful, emerging, thriving or needing a community, we aim to be something for everyone.
The Bridge to Impact Program aims to make our organization more inclusive of all women. The program targets women just beginning their careers, re-entering the workforce or otherwise striving for a new beginning. Women who would benefit from the deep well of experience and connections of our membership.
The first two years of each Bridge to Impact member’s membership is subsidized, in part. In addition, the program will include formal and informal mentoring opportunities. Our inaugural 2022 class includes 8 Bridge to Impact Members.
If you would like to become more involved with this program, please let Cathy Lucas or Angela Vogeli know. We are stronger together. Watch our impact grow!
Members Volunteer at Safe Haven
On Saturday, June 11, a group of Impact members gathered at Safe Haven Family Shelter for our first member volunteer day since 2019.  Safe Haven was closed from March 2020 until just recently, but has been able to continue services and even DOUBLE their capacity to serve by using hotel partnerships during COVID. Only recently have they slowly started to use the on-site family apartments again (currently half of the space is occupied). And with this transition back a little cleaning was in order.  Impact100 board chair, Ginger Duncan, was joined by Tina Percy, Debbie Bannister, Tara Waters and Joanne Sowell. The kitchen has been cleaned and organized, and a good time was had by all.

If anyone is interested in planning a family or other service project, Safe Haven offers the opportunity to prepare and drop off a meal for shelter families.  For more information you can contact Amanda Wood, Safe Haven Volunteer Coordinator, at awood@safehaven.org.

Look for more member volunteer opportunities soon, as we continue to support and partner with our grant recipients.

Our Grant Funds in Action

Tennessee Kids Belong, one of our 2021 grant recipients, has been hard at work capturing the hearts and stories of kids in Nashville currently in need of a forever family. YOU helped fund the I Belong Project and can view one of the videos HERE!

Leah is a wise 16-year-old young lady in need of a forever family. Leah is in honors classes with a 4.0, loves writing essays, and calls herself a “natural born writer". She dreams of going to Europe and loves to give creative gifts to those she cares about.
Let’s all help Leah find just the right family! Please re-share this video- you never know who in your network is considering opening their heart and home to a child.

Consider Easy Pay
If you plan to maintain your membership in Impact100 Nashville for the upcoming 2023 membership cycle but find it challenging to pay the full $1000 in one payment, please consider our Easy Pay option. Beginning in June 2022, this option allows you to make 12 payments of $100 each month that are automatically charged to your credit/debit card.  The additional $200 over the course of the year is relegated to credit card processing fees and operating costs.  If you are interested in the Easy Pay option for 2022-23, please contact our Treasurer at finance@nashville.impact100council.org.

We recently unveiled one of the largest murals in Nashville. The nearly 2,000 square-foot mural is on display at 100 Fernco Drive, off of Brick Church Pike and features elements representing Tennessee, including a realistic Mockingbird, the state flag, and the skyline, among other stunning details.
The mural also pays homage to Toyota’s Japanese roots with a realistic portrait of Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of Toyota Industries,
and Japanese-style artistic elements.
